Xin Hua Dance Troupe, established in 1999, is a non-profit performing arts group in Ottawa area. We are dedicated to promoting cultural awareness and enriching our community, as well as ourselves by means of traditional Chinese dancing. |
|
We specialize in various styles of Chinese folk dances, such as classical and modern folk dances, minority nationality dances, as well as northern Chinese waist drum dance. We also showcase traditional and contemporary Chinese fashions. We bring Chinese dance, music and costumes to various cultural and charitable events and festivals. Our performances not only bring you entertainment, but also introduce you to the diversity and beauty of Chinese culture. |

What we do? |

十年前，在欣华中文学校，一群年轻的妈妈们，准备利用孩子们上课的时候，开展一些有益的娱乐活动。在校长姚荣平的支持下，学校首先开办了腰鼓队，由徐粹霞老师指导。很快, 欣华腰鼓队就成为渥京社区一道明亮的风景线。继而，年轻的妈妈们又开始了舞蹈训练。由施绍梅老师编排的第一个舞蹈，采茶舞，即刻就参加了当年的龙舟节盛会。并同精彩的腰鼓表演，欣华中文学校年轻的妈妈们在龙舟节上打响了第一炮，打开了知名度。于是，欣华舞蹈团就这么成立了。从此以后，欣华舞蹈团参加了近大大小小百余次演出，在首都地区的各类庆典，多元文化演出及慈善义演活动中留下了无数的足印。 |
